The NoE kick-off meeting was held on September 24 to 26, 2004 at the Mendel Abbey in Brno.

We were very pleased to welcome close to 120 participants, with 6 SAB members, all 12 NETs and several guests, including Clare Matterson and editors from Nature, Nature Genetics and PLoS.

We hope that all attendants enjoyed this meeting and returned home with good spirits and a momentum which will foster the development of the NoE.
